New records for the Inventory module can be created by:

entering the information in the Inventory Maintenance screen;
using the Inventory Express form to create the record;
copying existing inventory records;
using the Inventory CSV Import facility from the Inventory > Utilities menu;
using JIWA XML Import abilities; or
a combination of methods
